“An interesting read, this edition shall be”. What better a way to introduce our Star Wars themed edition than to speak like Yoda – arguably (in my humble opinion) the ultimate risk leader.  

When the idea for this edition was first raised by Brett Dobbie, it immediately caught my attention, and it appears to have done the same with authors, as we received over twenty submissions for consideration. Indeed, as a general rule, we restrict article submissions to one per author – but on this occasion we have two authors who submitted four each. We acknowledged that the force must be strong with them, and so we included all of their submissions. 

The parallels drawn between strategic risk management and Star Wars by authors were compelling, and shows the power of storytelling in both communicating and facilitating risk management. Therefore, I will let the articles speak for themselves, and encourage you to embrace you inner “Risk Jedi” as you read the articles in this edition, calling on a quote by Yoda that reflects our role as risk leaders in a VUCAD world… 

“In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way.”
